attack dogs rather than their keepers. For good or ill, the nation state, having been established and organized with military force, has jurisdiction over all the natural resources within its borders and the ability to decide who gets access to those resources and who not. That the privileged are not required to share the fruits of the resources they are permitted to claim for themselves is not the fault of the privileged few, just as it is not the fault of the private corporations that their authorizing agents (in the case of the U.S. the legislators of the several states) do not require a fair return to the whole population from the resources and public assets these corporations use and abuse.
While juvenile humans do not have much social sense and tend not to appreciate the obligations they incurred via the care they already enjoyed in their rearing and education, corporations are actually organized (currently) to evade liabilities and obligations and don't have the excuse of inexperience to justify what can only be called predatory behavior. Even so, artificial bodies are not so much to blame as their creators. Our legislative bodies have created monsters and left them to roam the world and pillage in their name.
Predators with intelligent brains are not an improvement.
Why does the predatory mode survive in a species that has evolved the ability to communicate, share and take turns? I suspect it's a default that insures survival just in case there's no one with whom to communicate left.
