especially by congressman what's-his-name on Maddow last night was just totally unhinged and divorced from reality. Maddow, of course, made mincemeat out of him.

It is simply ridiculous to assert that the President doesn't have the right to issue executive orders--binding only during his administration, and within a very limited scope, or recess appointments for that matter though the SCOTUS may have a different, more limiting view on recess appointments when it issues its decision on what constitutes a recess.

If I were trying to make a case that the President was a despot, I would choose a different line of attack, especially since his predecessors used the privilege of the executive order more frequently than he has. The very narrow scope of his order on the minimum wage for Federal contractors shows, if anything, that this President has used a tremendous amount of restraint in the face of a House which has worked only to obstruct and destruct.

I cannot imagine that these responses by any of these folks could have appealed to many independents, a constituency I would be working very hard to convince that I had a plan of my own--especially if I were a Republican interested in regaining the majority of the Senate.
