  •  At a former employer, we inhabited a building (14+ / 0-)

    designed by a somewhat famous architect. You might guess what that means.
    Dramatically sloping ceilings. Light fixtures that seem to hover midair. A three-story atrium with giant cam shafts for pillars. A three-story cylindrical all-glass lobby.

    And HVAC problems out the wazoo.

    It is said, truthfully, imo, that "artsy" buildings are most always troublesome when it comes to their utilities. It certainly was the case in ours.

    Having grown up in a windy old farmhouse, I was quite immune to the extremes, but my co-workers suffered greatly. Many kept complete wardrobe changes in their offices because they never knew what they'd face on any given day, or any given time of day.
