  •  It may be hyperbole, or it may not be... (7+ / 0-)

When you identify the world's worst person, you are clearly making a point. One cannot know the lives and characters of all seven billion individuals.

But, the callousness this guy evinces -- the remarkable disregard of any responsibility or sense of contrition for driving his massive yacht and killing someone? The lack of any sense of personal shame for owning a watch that costs more than the total assets of members of his family?

This guy has gotta be in contention for the title.

    •  Great wealth causes distortions (0+ / 0-)

I know one person who went from living on the streets to being wealthy (probably over $50M) sued his best man, divorced his wife to marry another woman, disowned his son (who was named after him) then disappeared.

Not everyone who becomes rich turns out like this, but sometimes....

There's nothing we can do to prevent people becoming weird when they come into money. But we can do something that can eliminate their ability to harm other people. Even people they purport to love.

Social architect Buckminster Fuller said "Humanity now faces a choice: oblivion or utopia." Oblivion occurs as the default. Is utopia really an option? The reality may not be, but the ideal is. Copiosis delivers the ideal.
