    like this one.

That word means a lot of things to a lot of people.

Law enforcement in the south use it on everyone male as a part of macho intimidation, most notably it's a slur against black men, who don't get to actually be men because of the color of their skin. The queer culture of the south that I came out in didn't really use this term at all.

We used "camp," for feminine gay men, and "dyke" for masculine lesbians (the term a lot of them preferred), but I never heard "boy" used by anyone other than the leather crowd.  I was only in NYC for a little while, but I didn't hear it used there, either, though there were lots of other slang terms I became acquainted with.

When it comes to New York City queer culture, though, we're talking about a huge number of people, so it's definitely conceivable that "boi" is a term you might hear there, though I doubt it, because it sounds pretty gender-fascist to me.

I don't think this is a story. It's an okay question to ask, and I encourage people to do some digging to see if there is any homophobic behavior that this guy has engaged in, and I really encourage local NYC people to do that digging and reporting (as a local issue, that would hit pretty hard) but I think the real story is that this guy has serious self esteem and anger management issues. He needs therapy, not a seat in congress.
