Of all Obama's miserable failures, AGW is the one that is most catastrophic and cannot be undone. Obama blew the last fair chance the human race had to correct course. And he did it to serve Big Oil. History will be very unkind to Barack Obama.

able 100 years out, no matter how environmental he'd been.

Now, it's possible that an FDR-style motivator taking office on day 1 could possibly have found a way to avoid losses 2010. In that case he might've had the governing power to launch some major green energy initiatives. Maybe national consumer solar.

But there's no way a conceivable WH and legislature membership of our time would have the power to rein in big dirty energy. The country would have blown past the possible course change regardless.

thru regulations, without having to go through Congress.

The influence of the [executive] has increased, is increasing, and ought to be diminished.

      •  When Obama Was Elected in 2008 (5+ / 0-)

He held the country in the palm of his hand. The Republicans were terrified and Conservatism was quaking. Obama could have done almost anything in the first 90 days. But he squandered all that political capital. Even after that, Obama had the power administratively, validated through the Supreme Court, to regulate carbon. Obama chose not to. Simple as that.

Now, perhaps, even in 2008 it was too late to prevent catastrophic global warming. Maybe. But now it's 5 years later and we are more locked into carbon fuels than ever before. Worldwide carbon emissions are skyrocketing. International agreements have become nearly inconceivable. We are now constructing infrastructure throughout the country -- and around the world -- for fracked oil products. Do you really think that infrastructure will be abandoned anytime soon?

No, Obama could not have singlehandedly solved AGW. But he surely didn't need to lock the world into carbon fuels as he has.

        •  Yep -- exactly. He chose to do very little, and he (4+ / 0-)

is about to make the most catastrophic abdication of his responsibility to posterity of all of them when he approves KXL. History indeed will NOT be kind to him, unless of course it's all bought and paid for and rewritten by the Koch brothers. Which might save Obama yet.

      •  don't overly mythologize FDR (7+ / 0-)

And for that matter please do not ignore the dramatic difference in circumstances between when FDR was elected and when Obama was.

                •  Again, a complete failure on your part. (0+ / 0-)

Since you appear to not have the intellectual fortitude to grasp this, let me try to explain:

My behavior has nothing to do with the fact that the comment to which you replied went completely over your head.

Your reply to it was stated in such a manner that would indicate you were correcting the comment, when in actuality you were restating what the comment essentially said.

In other words, you were agreeing with the comment, when you thought you were disagreeing with it.

Now, please explain to me what "behavior" of mine is so accurately described by the word "whoosh."

Let's see if you can handle that one. I know it's rather complex, but of you try hard, I bet you can do it.

                  I'll wait.
