      When mom and pop retail stores with less selection and higher prices were around, life was better for poor people (and there were fewer of them). Walmart created millions of poor people. I've heard all of those claims.

        less, dependent on stealing (via unpaid labor hours) from its employees, dependent on its customers drawing food stamps -- whole margin of profit is based on the continued existence of the poor, particularly the (very much poorer) cheap and semi-slave labor available in China.

        And those mom and pop days weren't so long ago.  This company leaves a trail of dependency in its wake wherever it goes.
