  •  Evening Joe and Bluester hippies. Watched this (6+ / 0-)

well done documentary "Standardized" on std-ised testing. One problem was that there were hardly any Black or Brown voices interviewed even though those are the communities worst affected. The docu did highlight struggles in those communities like Chicago, Philly etc. But including the voices of Black/Brown teachers/students/parents etc would have made it even more credible.  One of the interviewed (think it is Prof Mark Naison)  said Obama's policies are worse than Bush and the audience applauded. This is by no means a conservative crowd in a deep Blue city.

Here is a report of a screening from  FL :

i'll look out for that movie, there's a rising tide of discontent over the ill-conceived education "reforms" of the past two administrations, whose only real goal appears to be delivering the public school system to the dinner table of the private sector.  it's too bad that there isn't a political party that is committed to public education.

Quality education will only be available to the haves.

Beware of voucher plans, they will divide society just as badly as concentration of wealth.

We should be going in the opposite directing where lunch is included with school, and after class room activities keep latch key kids active and safe until ~6 PM.

Suggest: teach swimming, musical instruments, art for art's sake, video poker/, go nuts in the gym, ...
