  •  Why ever not? (7+ / 0-)

There is nothing you can "catch" from a toilet seat.  Except disguist at times.

gunk splashes up on you, it's sort of gross.  I hate it when that happens.

      Happy New Year.

      •  So true (5+ / 0-)

But that's why I look ahead to make sure the road ahead is good.  On a highway it's usually OK.  Avoid going when you're on the side roads or road construction.

        •  I remember from a long time ago a train trip where (6+ / 0-)

the toilet apparently let out directly on the track after a bend in the toilet pipe because you could feel the suction of the wind pressure when you sat down.  The weirdest personal experience of Bernoulli's law that faster wind speed lowers air pressure I've ever experienced.

BTW, my father's favorite joke was about the old airplane toilets that released directly out into the air, and a priest lost in a desert. But, I have to give you a little background on my father.

My father won the Summerfield Scholarship in Kansas and chose to go to St Bennedict's monastery to become a priest.  But, after finishing his undergraduate degree there he didn't take his final vows because they didn't nominate him for the Rhodes scholarship as a lesson in humility even though he was by far and away the best qualified candidate in his opinion.

So he volunteered to be a navy pilot because he had deferred the draft in the monastery.

So, he tells this joke about a priest lost in the desert who gets down on his knees and is praying to the Lord for guidance with his hands out-streached to the heavens. Meanwhile a Navy plan goes by overhead where the pilot flushes their releasing toilet, and the poop flies down and lands in the priests hands.  At which point, he said, "Lord, don't give me this shit."

My dad would laugh so hard at this that his reaction was funnier than the joke. And, my mother would be agast because my three brothers and I were like 4 to 10 at the time.
