  •  I'm happy that Larry Summers did not get the job (5+ / 0-)

And I'm willing to give Yellen the benefit of the doubt.  But I have no expectations one way or the other.  She has come up through the almost exclusively  male ranks and that is impressive.  But, does she get the corrupt state of affairs in the large financial interests in Wall Street that Paulson bailed out in 2008 when he protected Wall Street to defend Main Street (that IS his own bottom line rationale as he explains in Hank)

Yellen is considered a "dove" (unemployment is more important than inflation) but and she is supposed to be a Keynesian (good) but not much else is known.  We'll soon see.

Daily Kos an oasis of truth. Truth that leads to action.

    •  Actually, quite a bit is known. It's just... (8+ / 0-)

...that she hasn't been positioned to turn her broader views into policy previously.

I'd say it would be virtually impossible to pursue the career she has and not "get" this, even among those who protect those interests. I have seen no reason to suppose that Ms. Yellen is less aware than anyone else who was at all likely to get the post. Is there any evidence to the contrary?

... as he took himself out of consideration.  Most reports from the inside seemed to strongly suggest PBO was pretty much hell bent on appointing him, although some of that was probably Summers supporters trying to make it seem inevitable.

I never saw anything but anonymously sourced speculation on this... which turned out to be wrong.
