    "voters don't pick Republicans, Republicans pick voters"

    This is part and parcel of the whole attitude of Republicans toward democracy. Just think of how many stories you've read here over the years that are similar in kind, if not specifics.

    Trick people with misleading websites; purge voter rolls based on indicators for race or ethnicity; reduce voting machines in precincts where Democrats do well; disenfranchise college students; force 90 year old black grannies to get drivers licenses; race-based gerrymandering; the list goes on and on.

    It's not just their conservatism that makes me dislike the GOP.  I can deal with that; I can even respect it if its honest.  Its that the GOP seems like a criminal enterprise. This sort of thing feels like an assault, like a crime, and it is so constant that we're almost used to it.
