  •  Weed should have never been illegal (8+ / 0-)

THAT is going to be one HUGE lesson of all the relegalization efforts, as we legalize the herb state-by-state.

If AMerica can cope with 30 gun deaths a day, they can manage to cope with an additional ZERO deaths per day.

    I am certain of it.

    Legal means "good".

    •  I agree dr zombie. Prohibition should have taught (0+ / 0-)

the utter futility of making illegal something people want to use. you cant ban cigarettes fir the same reason - that  and there are 770 TRILLION cigarettes made every year, 110000 for every man woman and child on this planet. even if the 20% of folks in the US who smoke all quit tomorrow cold turkey and never touched another cigarette, it wouldnt make much of a dent in the number of cigarettes. making wed legal would free thousands of prisoners who were busted for smoking pot, saving the taxpayers money for incarcerations, and the states ad feds bring in money through taxes on selling and buying weed,

A pack a day comes to 7,300 a year. 110,000 a year comes to 15 packs a day per person. It appears that you slipped a decimal point, and that you meant to say 7.7 trillion cigarettes a year, and 1,100 per person. The Tobacco Atlas Web site says

        Manufacturing Cigarettes

There are well over 500 cigarette factories spread around the globe, each responsible for thousands of premature deaths and massive, avoidable costs to society. These factories collectively produce nearly 6 trillion cigarettes every year, roughly 13% more than a decade ago.
