I don't think there are any here, people who would make excuses or apologies for a rape. There are however many who aren't ready to reach a conclusion of guilt for WA. Two different things.

The bar of proof is set so high for many that their purported support for a "real rape victim" will never be put to the test.  Imagine how that feels to people who have lived it.  All the beautiful denials of malice and pious claims of support mean nothing when most of us can be quite certain that, were these people passing judgment in our own cases, they'd be on the rapist's side.

a reasonable doubt is convicting men of rape on accusation alone.
In fact, rape is a difficult crime to prove. That doesn't mean that we should eliminate the presumption of innocence.
Murder is a far easier crime to prove yet there are a large number of known cases of innocent people wrongly convicted of murder.
There are also a large number of men who have been convicted of rape and later exonerated by DNA evidence after rotting in prison for years.
What the diarist and her supporters want is automatic presumption of guilt. That is simply unacceptable in any reasonable justice system.
