    I mean in the sense, as far as working for a healthy, competitive company goes, for all the young professionals - and everyone else looking for work - if they have to make cuts when they post record quarterly profits....what happens when they don't post record profits?

    Isn't "record quarterly profits" the time to be giving people raises and such?

    I know it's more complicated than that, they are always cooking the books, I get it, I ask a relatively dumb question to highlight the stupidity of it all.

    If AOL has to make cuts when they post record profits how is that a healthy company to work for? How do you invest in that company? What isn't Armstrong telling people?

    And when we're talking about outfits as big as an AOL, crying poverty right after admitting record profits, a company that employs as many people as it does - or at least used to, apparently they are hovering around 5,600 down from 20k almost ten years ago. 5,600 is still a lot especially with a shrinking middle class and my whole point is this, where is the oversight? What's so terribly wrong at AOL? Mismanagement? CEO's took out too many loans against the company for shower curtains made of gold thread? Another CEO needed a 4th summer home in the Riviera?

    I'm not really sure how AOL is even still around in the first place...they've been putting out an inferior product for years, there email sucks, there "news" is barely above People-National Enquirer level tabloid bs.....

      AOL's business is acquiring and distributing content through its portal (a joke) and subsidiaries (marginally less laughable).  In this case, Dianna Fei's husband is an editor at Huffington Post.  So I guess "mission" and all that.
