I've had my gun in every bar I've been to in the last long while and so have a lot of people I was with at those bars. No issues at all. -- CarlosJ
What point were you trying to make, and how, with this statement?
    •  That the concern is overblown. (3+ / 0-)

Everytime firearms are allowed in places that they aren't the opponents of legislation allowing it cry that there will be blood in the streets. It happened in every state that expanded conceal carry, constitutional carry, changed to shall issue...everytime firearms were allowed in bars, parks, public venues...and it hasn't come to pass.

The CDC found (twice now) that there is no ling between increased gun control and decrease of any type of crime.  Not causation not even correlation.

There are plenty of states that allow carry in bar and the data is available...and it doesn't lend to those who, from the best I can label it, engage in concern trolling.

      •  Carlos, is expressing concerns "trolling"? (3+ / 0-)

For communities that have not had such laws before - mine, in downtown Chicago, is an example - and for people who have not had a "long while" of experience to be concerned ... does that seem unreasonable to you?

Yes, our concerns can be responded to with experience, perhaps by statistics (although the gun lobby has fought the collection of statistics), but that hardly makes the expression of concern "trolling".

What are the statistics associated with gun violence under the influence of alcohol?

I doubt this will add a lot to the total number of bar shooting in SC.  They're already quite high without this law.  Most take place in the parking lot.  We have them every weekend.  The City of North Charleston has been revoking business licenses and COs for places where shootings happen.  If your bar becomes a place where someone gets shot or shot at, the city will shut you down.  They don't care why someone opened fire either.
