I think there is some middle ground. Politics is about building coalitions. Spitzer alienated people who would have been natural allies, and for no good reason. He was much too focused on being in the press. When he was AG he would threaten people with an indictment leaked to the press, and then never file charges. He had very sharp elbows and showed no mercy. When the roles were reversed, he stood alone.

That must mean that every DA and AG has just happened to be a failure. We've built a system that destroys anyone who tries to do good and isn't perfect and offers a hand up for those who have no intention of doing good.

If knowledge is power and power corrupts, does that mean that knowledge corrupts?

I tried to go online to find a similar bear head...but when I searched “Big Bear Head” it gave me a San Diego craigslist ad entitled “Big Bear needs some quick head now” and then I just decided to never go on the internet again.--Jenny Lawson

      not a elected official.

As Chief of Staff to the Mayor or Governor
he could throw an elbow in the clinch, and move on.

But hogging the limelight and making a lot of enemies
      makes it tough.

you need favors, friends, IOU's and a certain amount
      of positive image.

personally i think he should have toughed it out.

Dared the FBI to file a Complaint with the DOJ and
explain how he got on their radar.
