    racial reconciliation in Jasper after the murder of James Byrd -- among other things, the black and white pastors working together to remove a wall between the "Black cemetery" and the "White cemetery" while community members sang.  

    (The ministers did it because the ownership of the cemetery was unclear, and they figured they'd be less likely to be arrested for taking this action.)

    This is a travesty of an investigation, a tragedy for the family of Alfred Wright, and a sad commentary on the limits of the reconciliation in Jasper.

    I'm glad the family were able to get an independent autopsy.  At least there is now a chance of a decent investigation, even if future investigators are hampered by the initial botching of the matter.
