  •  Don't blame the voters (0+ / 0-)

It's up to the party, the campaigns, and the activists to get Dem voters out to the polls.

Dems did a piss-poor job of that in the San Diego special election for mayor on Tuesday, and as a result, their candidate was routed.  The Democratic candidate won the San Diego mayor's race in 2012, so this was a winnable race, but sadly GOTV failed to come anywhere close to 2012.

    •  you sound like (0+ / 0-)

someone who doesn't have the time or interest to vote in off year elections, but take away the vote and the same people that are too lazy to vote in every cycle would be the first to yell and scream about losing the franchise.
if you and your uninterested voters can't get yourself to the polls don't blame the pols for not taking you by the hand and walking you to the voting booth like the little petulant children you really are, grow up cry baby, you are part of the problem not part of the solution.

        I vote.  Others don't.

The Dem GOTV in San Diego on Tuesday was shameful.

Precincts won by the GOP candidate had turnout averaging between 45 and 50 percent.

Precincts won by the Dem candidate had turnout averaging between 20 and 30 percent.

Just ridiculous.  The Dem candidate had plenty of money, raised by a local labor council.  They ran a lot of TV commercials.  Apparently didn't have the boots on the ground necessary to muster up any kind of respectable voter turnout.

And it's not just San Diego, we see this all over.  The gun fetishists recalled two Dem state senators in Colorado last year because the Democratic GOTV was awful.

We're going to keep losing off-year elections that we ought to win until the party, the candidates, and the activists figure out how to get voter turnout meeting or exceeding what the Goopers get from their voters.

like it if there was something that the party can do.

What happened with the GOTV effort by Howard Dean in Utah?

The internet is crazy. It is like people arguing about what kind of cheese to throw at a portrait, in order to destroy it completely
