Frankly, I hope she loses this fall, just so long as that doesn't mean the Democrats lose the Senate. Even then, I'm still torn because the Republicans would only have the Senate for two years, and then Maria Cantwell would be Energy Chair. Far less damage than Landrieu through 2020 and, perhaps, beyond.

Liberals like Schatz and Sanders on the Committee who talk a good game about climate are frauds if they voted for her as Chair.

They juist make denial/delay into the "bipartisan moderate position." If it's the difference between 51 and 49, fine. But if it's the difference between 53 and 51 they can go to hell.

Passive renunciation is not the whole of wisdom.

Sadly, we're stuck with Manchin at least through 2018.

However, in 2016, there will be the possibility to have Democratic pick-ups in blue/purple states like Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, and (if Grassley retires) Iowa. None of those are big coal/oil states. And the Environment and Public Works Committee would look very amenable to climate legislation: Boxer, Carper, Cardin, Sanders, Whitehouse, Udall, Merkely, Gillibrand, Booker, Markey.
