  •  the cabin on 6 Mile (7+ / 0-)

was a log cabin made for the local ranger, whatever that really meant in the 1928 when they bought it from the Crown.

The logs were 16-22" diam and chinked with cement. The icebox was sawdust filled crack in the rock 60' from the outhouse, in another crack in the rock...30' from the water and 30' from where we dunked the bucket for water.
In the early 30's there was a wolf or wild dog that tried to swim to the island because their dog Sandy was in heat. There was gunfire. I was told the dog or wolf swam back to shore.

We would see bears swim from one point where we (eyeroll) 'buried' our garbage. we sunk the cans in the lake. Times change thank dog.

    This machine kills Fascists.
