    I think it mostly has to do with preparedness. NE cities tend to have plenty of plows and start salting and standing ASAP to prevent a lot of ice forming.

    And there actually wasn't much in the way of ice here. Trust me.  Hell 2 inches of snow caused  insanity two weeks ago.

    The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

      I'm sorry you miss NY, but you're demonstrably wrong that there was not much ice in Atlanta two weeks ago. Preparedness is a big part of it, but it's not the whole story. I have multiple friends in my NC town who lived in upstate NY and don't want to drive on this ice.

      Everyone getting on the roads at the same time caused the problem.

      that same issue caused problems in a few cities in the Carolinas too - everyone getting on the road at the same time caused gridlock.

      I swear, really, I hope you learned to stop digging when  you're in a whole from this experience. I fear not, but I sure hope so!
