You never hear Southerners mocking how Northern states react to heatwaves.

New Yorkers.  Heard it many times. The difference is, New Yorkers will laugh and agree with you.

I've lived everywhere on the East Coast from Miami to ME. This area is bad for my physical and mental health, to put it bluntly.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

      •  New Yorkers are vicious about Southerners. (0+ / 0-)

I have never heard New Yorkers being insulted to the degree that Southerners are, and people get fed up with being talked about like they're all dimwits because they live south of the Mason-Dixon line. You get what you give.

I've lived both places, and both places have their idiots and their assholes. Southerners, however, do not refer to the North as "flyover country," as if the rest of the country weren't important enough for them.

There's no point in arguing, but your comment, if you read the thread below, was clearly based in ignorance. Driving in NE snow is not like driving on SE ice.

Agree there's assholes and great people in both places, just to get that out there. Moved to Brooklyn, love it here. Thing is though, I've experienced people from various other parts of the country giving the stinkeye to New Yorkers, based on the assumption that this place is too dirty, too crowded, and everyone is an asshole. It's a different kind of insult than those directed at the South, where the main thing is condescension and dismissal. Here it's just assuming you MUST be an arrogant jerk or buffoonish goombah or a pretentious trust fund brat if you live here.
