    at least younger kids.. I fully believe that kids with terminal illness DO understand it. They face that specter many times in their very short lives. I don't see how that would be a good 'excuse' to deny them the right to shorten the pain. And having worked in nursing and having seen people suffering for a long time in pain with no hope, I fully believe they should be allowed to decide when they've had enough. With the safe guards in place in the law, it seems like a reasonable and sane and humane thing to me. We wouldn't let a puppy suffer with incurable pain, despite it's age and lack of 'understanding' of the decision, why should we let our children not make that choice? We're obviously not talking 2 year olds here, we're talking older kids who can comprehend it and fully understand what they're doing.
