  •  Is this a great country, or what? (6+ / 0-)

Here's how it works here in America.  Every three weeks or so someone tries to establish their religion as an official state-approved legal-like hup-de hopublic and compulsory my-way-or-the-highway path to the Godhead, and when someone objects, the religious guy says "the Free Exercise Clause guarantees my right to do this so fuck you, atheist scum."  This causes a brief silence, after which everyone usually bursts out in howls of laughter, says "good one" and "hey Slim you had us going there for just a minute" and then everyone goes home.  I believe the Founding Fathers intended it this way, especially Jefferson, who probably got a good laugh of his own out of the whole thing.

But they use it to mess up other peoples' lives, not so funny.

And did you ever notice how the "someone" always seems to be some flavor of Christian? It's never the actual minorities, let alone atheists, who try to shove their beliefs down other peoples' throats.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."........ "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." (yeah, same guy.)
