of the federal judiciary only need to understand the Constitution as well as Rush Limbaugh? That seems like a very low bar. Surely we expect our federal judges, who are ruling on constitutional issues, to understand the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Who cares if that gasbag Rush Limbaugh knows the difference? He isn't making any judicial rulings.

Certainly, it's a dumb mistake, and I agree with those people who criticize a judge who does this. But perhaps Rush Limbaugh should not jump on his high (talking) horse about this particular topic. And unlike a judge, who is embarrassed and corrects the mistake immediately, Limbaugh will never admit to being wrong about anything. That's why he's willing to condemn people for making the same mistake he does.

the judge was a Freudian Slip (Op?) or something of the sort, not ignorance of the law.

Still, it has to be an embarrassment to a federal judge.  Even I would be mortified.

Limbaugh's mistakes are simply the result of never fact-checking himself, but they are not an embarrassment.

Limbaugh wouldn't be embarrassed by his own faux pas, as he is such an embarrassment of a human being to start with that individual embarrassing errors are meaningless to him.

His audience is so willing to eschew rational thought and facts in favor of partisan blather that they will be high-fiving with one hand, the other hand cradling what's left of a six pack of beer.

the real significance is that he's threatening her, adding to the general homophobia.

other national  radio gods and the local blowhards will follow it with their own local yelling, taking outraged calls from local teabagers.

a bunch of assholes screaming at her in emails and calls etc, may not make a difference to her now but the nutbags will follow her for a while in the next elections, etc., and it'll probably generate some outraged letters to the editor, etc.
