Well, Christopher Wahmhoff, I want to thank you for being with us, part of the Michigan Coalition Against Tar Sands. In June, he protested the Enbridge pipeline by skateboarding for hours deep inside the pipeline and refusing to come out. This is Democracy Now!, democracynow.org. When we come back, One Billion Rising.

If it goes downhill, I don't know how easy it is to climb out.

Where are all the jobs, Boehner?

      •  When pipelines are constructed they are assembled (4+ / 0-)

above ground and lowered into trenches as the construction commences.   This means anyone entering new pipeline installation from the working end faces a steep downhill vertical difference over a limited distance that would tend to rapidly propel anyone on a skateboard to the lowest installed under-trench elevation in the immediate area....which means rapid displacement from ventillation available from the working end.

The other urgent physical problem for any person who has been rapidly transported to the lowest installed elevation of the pipeline in the trench comes if the pipeline diameter is such that you could not turn your body around to face and uphill kreturn up a slope to return to the working end.....and that would be difficult doing that feet first.

....so entering a pipeline in this manner should be regarded by all as a suicidal & irresponsible act.
