    I think a good analogy for the news value and journalistic content of shows like Meet The Press to actual journalism is roughly like the relationship of professional wrestling to the actual sport of wrestling.  

    If Nye threw up his hands at one point, it was probably because of his expectations about being in one milieu and realizing he was in a rather different one.

      "You're not in science now. You are in politics about science. You need to get up to speed and prepare your game.
      If you don't like this, you should go back to science instruction, no harm no foul, we love you."
      He could theoretically be brutally effective against the likes of Blackburn. In which case he will become locked out by the media in short order. That in itself will be effective communication.

      You can't make this stuff up.

        As learning curves go, he's not doing too badly so far. And I'm not sure how getting locked out by the media would be helpful.

          becomes accessible to the public when they see someone get too close to the truth and then gets "locked out " by the media.

          You can't make this stuff up.
