He was best when he pointed out that Blackburn's figures were just stoooopid. For instance when she said that the difference in parts per billion was insignificant and Nye pointed out that is was 30% difference and that is a BIG deal - that was good.
I thought he was timid at first and really made a mistake when trying to explain the difference between specific weather incident causation contrasted with overall climate change causation.
How to approach that? Don't explain it. Just say she's wrong and move on. Let HER try and answer that.
Gregory's introduction was a mess and Nye should have called him on it. He wanted to say there was complete consensus but he kept saying that and then unsaying it. It was a mess - as is typical of the press these days.
The first thing you establish is that there is total consensus. Period. Don't let the debate move on from there. Hammer that point home over and over and over and over.
And you hammer that point home with three or four words - no more.
Finally, you might want to read Charlie Pierces's amusing take on the show.

    •  He should define consensus for her (6+ / 0-)

When she said there is no consensus, he should have said, "That is untrue. Consensus means general agreement, not unanimity." Every time she repeated "no consensus," he should respond, "Did you mean no unanimity?" If she countered that there should be unanimity, he could just point out that 1 in 70 people worldwide suffer from dementia. That alone would account for the number of scientists that deny climate change.

Let's let it roll for a while.
I'm in SE Pennsylvania, I'll end up with beachfront property.
Even better, the conservatives have to figure out what to do with an undersea Wall Street.   ;)
