It's cold painful at times, but we are going to win.

    For Giles:

Lane is a crow who knows, who hears the voice.
In the tamaracks and over dark, frozen lakes,
voices sprung from our aching bones whistle and hum.

Cedars and oaks creak and moan to answer them.
Soil and metal speak through trunks and boughs.
The Sun will smile on us, his sister lights our path.

Dances, lights, songs of yearning burn and blow,
breaking into dawn. Our sodden feet stomp and march.
The day will be ours. The earth hears. The water hears.

We are in earth, the earth is in us.
We are of the water, we ripple and rush and rest.
Take these words into the spring, whisper them to dogwood buds.

Voices of crows, of water women and deep soil
thrum under your ribs. Sing with them.
Under the snow and ice, the ear of justice awaits your call.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left. - Seasick Steve
