  •  Maps sure help with that kind of quest. (13+ / 0-)

Nice series of photos. How different it looks at the various spots. I'm amazed at how rugged it is up there, considering how close to the city it is (yes, Beaverton can claim to be a city, in terms of lots of streets houses commercial establishments etc). That's a good thing, even if a little hard on your vehicle.

I made a similar quest last fall when I was down in Snohomish county, to see the headwaters of the little creek that runs past my mom's place (where I grew up). Road maps are a fabulous tool. You just drive down the road to where the blue line intersects the black line, look out the window and there it is. Although up at the headwater, this one is just a gully filled with  brush and small alders. Here's a photo of the first place there's liquid water.

It was a dry time last winter when there was hardly any runoff, so I had to look down into the grating to see water. Last month I bet it was flowing visibly on the ground. It's in a housing development. But the county has kept a buffer along the stream course.

You know what would be cool, is for you to make the trek back up to those spots you photographed laster in the year and see what the creek looks like in the dry season. Can do?

I am planning to track those and other sites.

Its funny where we live, You have that picture of a dry grate, but in December there could be a 1000 gallons a minute pouring through that former gully.
