  •  Pretty illogical, I agree. Still, there are a lot (4+ / 0-)

of Americans who haven't seen much of a recovery.  They're still unemployed -- and not getting any benefits any more.  Or they're stuck as part-timers, or working full time but at worse-paying jobs than before.  They may have lost their house, or still be teetering on the edge.  THe stock market has recovered, but the economy itself is still very weak.

Democrats need to get their message out consistently and forcefully, or people will do what they usually do in hard times: blame the incumbent.

THe message is that Democrats led by Obama kept our economy from crashing and burning; the stimulus turned it around; but the recovery is weak and the Republicans are primarily to blame with their partisan obstruction.

THat message comes with a muttured side-dish of "Yeah, we should have tried for more stimulus and we should have indicted the banksters (still should), and Obama is too centrist on the economy, but we were the only ones even trying, and people, we're far and away the best option you have, and GM is alive, and quick. look over there, Elizabeth Warren!"
