  •  They have "do nothing" down to a science. (9+ / 0-)

Which, come to think of it, is as close as they're likely to get to science on any topic.

    •  OF course, step two after "Do Nothing" (10+ / 0-)

is always "Get complacent MSM to blame 'both sides'".

Then watch as the Democratic party responds to the charges of not being "Bi-partisan" by giving the Rethugs 90% of what they want.

I don't blame Christians. I blame Stupid. Which sadly is a much more popular religion these days.

    •  They don't need to do anything (0+ / 0-)

That's the horrible and frustrating thing about our 2 party political system. No matter how bad or incoherent their message is, the Republicans are still one of only 2 choices. And voters in this country vote against the politician or the political party that annoys them most, not for the candidate or political party they like. So Republicans don't even need to be liked by the electorate in order to win elections. They only need to offer an alternative for those people who are frustrated with the current state of affairs.

Democrats need to offer better solutions for young people in order to beat the do-nothing conservatives. Just defending social security and Medicare and the existing safety net is completely insufficient when senior citizens (who receive most of those benefits) have already decided en masse to support the reactionary party.
