  •  many states have background checks in place (7+ / 0-)

There is no mystery about how to do them.  In fact MO had them before the law repealed them... are you seriously acting like there is a problem doing something that was already being done??

    •  yeah...don't really see what that has to do (10+ / 0-)

with anything...they could just go back to what they had.

the real question is...why..??..why did they repeal their background checks..??..looks like the work of the NRA...

“It’s something we’ve advocated for some time,” Kevin Jamison, president the National Rifle Association affiliate in the state, told the Kansas City Star in August 2007. “This makes it easier for people to buy firearms. They don’t have to get permission first.”
...and you got to this another state in which the NRA is cheating...
One morning last month, Rhode Islanders woke up to the news that the National Rifle Association had been charged with the second-largest campaign finance ethics violation in state history. In a settlement reached by the Rhode Island Board of Elections, the NRA admitted that it improperly funneled money from its national Political Action Committee (or "PAC") to the Rhode Island-specific PAC, illegal under state law. The PAC was fined a historic $63,000.

Michigan has a pistol purchasing permit for those without a concealed carry permit who buy a used pistol. There are some suggestions that all firearm transfers should go through an FFL. There are others that suggest non-FFL access to the NICS system.
