Meet the Press since Gregory has been hosting it. It would just be a waste of time watching him promote Republican propaganda at every opportunity.

We feel so bad for Tim Russert who must be rolling over in his grave

      •  Russert was a tool (5+ / 0-)

As bad as Gregory? Probably not, but still a tool.

        •  Russert was more dangerous and effective (3+ / 0-)

against the Democrats.  He worked hard to get Bush reelected in 2004, bringing a series of Democratic governors in red states on the show and needling them when they would not endorse Kerry.  He brought in no Republican governors in blue states who would have been reluctant to endorse Bush. He was continually implying that Democrats were lacking in patriotism and naive about the threat of terrorism, and he was very good at mocking them about their opposition to the war. All his knife work was done with a big smile and a stance of "just doing my job in a common sense way."

had a Saul of Tarsus conversion the day Jack Welch sat him down and told him he could either sit at the head table,or follow Phil Donahue out the door.Tim chose to graze at the trough of course and all pretense of objective journalism at 'Meet the Press' (and NBC for that matter) was effectively over, and he became a useful and personally wealthy tool for corporate propaganda.

Tim is beloved and respected by many of his peers, but I was infuriated by him week after week.

In his defense, he received steady phone calls directly from Cheney. Darth told him what stories to run and how to spin them. I heard Russert say this.

Russert rude treatment of Dennis Kucinich in the presidential debates was criminal.

His legacy: Luke Russert is appropriate ( right wing shill).

You really nailed it. He would have Republican guests that spent the whole show building up Reagan -- that really was sickening. He looked more nervous and sweaty during his final years -- wonder what was going through his mind at that time. He was more of a Journalist for the beltway than for America.
