  •  "Labor has formed the backbone of (9+ / 0-)

GOTV efforts since the 1930's."  Precisely why the Rethugs will do every lying, intimidating, cheating thing they can to stifle union membership.

They can't win on message. Their demographic base is shrinking. Demographics that generally don't support them are on the rise.

Their only hope is to "shrink the vote" and further institutionalize an advantage so Dems can never be successful in elections again. As long as Dems hold the White House and some power in Congress, however, they are just pissin' into the wind.

Hopefully, democracy, justice and fairness will prevail and they will go kicking and screaming into that long, dark night.

    •  In "Godfather" terms, it's business, not personal (6+ / 0-)

While I'm sure that Corker, Walker, Kasich, et al all hate unions, most of them are smart enough to know that they're hurting the Dems by going after labor.  They have sound political motivations for their actions.

If only more Dems recognized this threat to their party's vital interests.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?

The whole concept that "it's nothing personal, it's only business," which businessmen and their political henchmen use to justify their actions, is psychopathic.
