about the felony part of the UBC. It needs to be changed. I do however believe in having the checks and I think that we need to do what we can to stop straw purchases.

And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay. Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away. John Prine

I actually did raise my eyebrows in surprise when I saw your rec of that comment.

and I very much like and respect buddabelly. We as a group all agree on the right to keep and bear arms, but not on all things. We aren't monolithic.

I've stated before that I'm for background checks, but I believe that the issue of denying anyone with a felony stands in my way. I think it is a stealth racist way of keeping arms out of the hands of people of color.

We all know what the incarceration rate of young black men is and that they are generally over-charged so that many carry felony records. It's no accident that states want to exclude felons from voting and excuse many white collar criminals when it comes to the 2nd.

I believe that we have a history in this country of racist gun control. I'm not alone in my belief, The Black Panthers believed that the gun control laws of '68 were aimed at them.

Please read this link to an article from 1985. I know that the source will raise an eyebrow but the info in it is well sourced and shows a provable history of gun control that not everyone is aware of.
