  •  I have said all along.... (7+ / 0-)

that Scotty is gonna walk on this.

First the local media continually give him a free ride.

Second his argument that this is all just Democratic efforts to attack him and it was long ago and he didn't know about it are going to play OK with voters in WI, who unlike Kossacks,
don't pay a lot of attention to issues like this.

Walker got away with the recall effort by using huge chunks of Koch-funded PACs to convince the public that recalls should only be used in unusual circumstances and that the activities involved didn't rise to that.

The voters had become "recalled" out and were receptive to the argument.

Scotty is slick.   He's been through this before and maybe an underling or two gets whacked for things like robbing Veteran's funds for illegal purposes or political activities on the public dime.....but not Scotty.  He could be the next George Bush but much more cunning and slimy.

Free markets would be a great idea, if markets were actually free.

Which may be part of what is causing total panic and the current lashing out in the Wisconsin courts by the big-money conservative "issue" tax-free PACs.

How many of you, when you are the subject of a criminal investigation, could trump investigators and the regular judicial system by taking your case secretly to the Supreme Court?  Since condemning the prosecutor and the judge won't work this time, they have taken to a new strategy:

Supreme Court Challenge to WI Dark Money Probe Raises Questions of Judicial Ethics

An order from the Wisconsin Supreme Court halting the John Doe campaign finance investigation would directly affect the same organizations that helped put four of the justices on the bench, calling into question whether any of those justices can be impartial...

On February 7, two unnamed petitioners filed a motion for an original action in the Wisconsin Supreme Court, asking the justices to halt the John Doe criminal investigation into possible campaign finance violations during the state's 2011 and 2012 recall election. The names of the petitioners and the court filings are not public, but if the Court accepts the motion for an original action -- meaning the Court takes the case directly, rather than having it advance through the lower courts -- the court's four-justice conservative majority could have the power to halt a criminal investigation into groups that have played a key role in getting those same justices elected.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty (Chris Christie, Antonin Scalia, or Scotty Walker (pick your favorite) said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less."
