    Nor are they scary.

I am surrounded by people who own firearms.
They are neither brainwashed nor threatening.

    Educate yourself.
    Stop being afraid.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

    •  We don't need Conservative phrasing (5+ / 0-)

to get Congress to enact sensible gun laws.  We just have to stop calling them 'gun laws' and call them 'gun safety laws'.  None of our congresspeople or senators or even state legislators can reasonably be against gun safety, now, can they?  Can they?

      •  Good suggestion (0+ / 0-)

I could go for that. However, in reality I see conservatives lining up in lock step to control the debate with their mantra of "gun laws/control" and keeping the word/concept of "safety" out of the conversation. Part of the reason why they have done this for so long is evident on this very thread. Liberals tend to run around in circles chasing their own tails and eating their own instead of compromising and taking control of the debate. It's depressing.

      •  We do need to use English. (0+ / 0-)
Gun Control Noun S: (n) gun control (efforts to regulate or control sales of guns)
Gun Safety: a collection of rules and recommendations that can be applied when possessing, storing, or handling firearms

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

    •  OOh, another one, Frank, good job. Of course you (0+ / 0-)

left out the NRA stats this time, so you may be evloving.

There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.
