  •  However there are some organizations that are (0+ / 0-)

alleged to have a  right wing, or anti semitic flavor to them such as "Svoboda". Is that right or is that a smear by the pro Yanukovych  side? That name brings up memories of the '69 Mets, with Ron Svoboda  making a miracle catch in right field

of reality in those claims. How much is difficult to determine.

    •  There are some extremists. (0+ / 0-)

But they are a majority. Ultimately, the different opposition groups will have to come together and get difficult reforms done.

    •  Aye, there are some extremists amongst the (0+ / 0-)

protestors, particularly amongst those who faced the security forces directly.  But there isn't a widespread belief that they are supported by the majority of the population.  They will have to be accommodated in some fashion (the blanket amnesty goes a long way towards said accommodation) but I'd be floored if they ended up in government in anything more than a symbolic capacity (Ministry of Counting Widgets, basically - grand coalitions can always create obscure portfolios).

They are unhelpful, to be certain, but there's presently no reason to be fearful of a return of the extreme right.  Like in nearly all of the former Soviet states, the extreme right exists and needs to be managed but it rarely reaches power (Hungary excepted, which is having some truly scary times).
