The first two episodes. And you were right, it is quite compelling. That back country scattered with trailer parks and broken lives is quite the ripe scenery to back up the relationship between Rust and Marty. Both actors are excellent, and yes, McMonaughey IS haunting, particularly in the scenes from the present interviews, about as hollow of a man as you'll ever see.

Again, thanks for the tip. It's been a long cold winter and it's not over yet. Another great story brilliantly acted is very welcome on all these nights you just want to be home in front of a fire.

I'm going to assume you've already been down the road of Breaking Bad?

Also, if you have access to HBO GO, try the three seasons of In Treatment.  Its a good series that relies 100% on acting and dialog. It all takes place in therapy sessions.  Gabriel Byrne is great as Dr. Paul Weston and the show was a daily episode for the first two seasons to align with his appointments.  Every Monday would be one patient, every Tuesday show another and so forth.  The Friday episodes were when he went to meet with his own therapist.

LOTS of episodes, but they are only about 24 minutes each on HBO GO.  Very easily consumable over a few weeks.

A pal of mine long ago told me to watch In Treatment. And I forgot all about it. I assume it's On Demand? I will definitely check it out now! As soon as we binge our way through HOC and now True Detective....which of course, being bingers, won't take all that long.

My husband started watching Breaking Bad w/out me and got too far into it for me to catch up, but I will watch it someday. Feel like I missed the big IT with that one.

        •  Yeah, you should catch up to your husband (3+ / 0-)

It's worth the hype (and we all know there has been a ridicukous amount of hype).

Hell, even Sir Anthony Hopkins, the protege of Laurence Olivier himself, binge watched all 6 seasons and was so moved he was compelled to write a personal email to Brian Cranston saying:

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen - ever.
