  •  I beg to differ with you about GoT (0+ / 0-)

We haven't reached the end yet, but I would question where we see the good guys always winning. You must be reading/watching a different series than I am.

In fact, many of the "good guys" aren't around any longer, and many of the "bad guys" may be more nuanced than that description might you to believe. And some of the characters actually change over time - for better and for worse.

I do get a little tired of the way any show that contains a fantasy element tends to be disparaged.

    •  Dont get me wrong {SPOILER ALERT} (0+ / 0-)

      I am a life-long fantasy fan, but...

Of course good guys die (especially early) and we are in the middle of a series where the bad guys are ALWAYS ascendent (known colloquially as the Empire Strikes Back Syndrome).

But c'mon... every character built up as a villain?  Tywin, Joffrey, The Mountain that Rides, Viserys, Craster, Vargo Hoat, ...so many...  and more to come no doubt.  All with the ultimate character we are supposed to hate (Cersei) not dead but suffering her own fate at the end of ADWD.

And the ones that "change" are all the ones that are attempting to redeem themselves... Jaime, Daenerys....
