but it's fairly clear from the context of his remarks what he was trying to say: that arresting a jogger is what passes for controversial police conduct in Austin, while other police departments include cops who rape women.

That's not the brightest comment, but it certainly isn't the implied threat of rape that this diary title suggests.

Another misleading diary from this diarist on this topic.

    •  The diary title does not suggest that. (9+ / 0-)

But it makes a person wonder exactly what Acevedo meant when he said he would have been less generous to the young woman. She was arrested after all but apparently that didn't satisfy him.

Acevedo was uncharacteristically uncool during his press conference over this situation. He is typically much less strident and defensive. It really isn't like him to be so careless with his words because usually he's a fairly smooth talker quite adept at handling tough questions. Austin has its share of LE problems so perhaps this arrest going viral so quickly made him pissed-off and put him on edge.

    •  That's me...the great misleader. (0+ / 0-)

FEMINISM encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians...Pat Robertson, failed lawyer, worth over $100 million.

      •  Are you still claiming (0+ / 0-)

that you see "conflicting" information about whether or not there is a law in Texas that requires everyone to carry their ID and show it to police? The law that you claimed existed, but you never managed to cite for your last diary?
