    afford the plate armor, you had begun training in it (at appropriate size) since your early teens, if not earlier. That's where most of the miniature suits of armor come from -- child princes & etc.

    Fit, healthy (no big past injuries) knights could vault into the saddle without using their stirrups! Or were supposed to be able to. Horse doesn't do you a lot of good if you can't get back ON by yourself, in the middle of a fight!

    "real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...

      Many people think that knights needed a crane to get on their horse---false. That if a knight fell down, he couldn't get back up--false.

      I've seen people doing cartwheels and jumping jacks while wearing full plate armor.

      A set of full plate armor weighs around 45-50 pounds---about the same as the load carried in combat (ammo, body armor and equipment) by a modern soldier in Afghanistan.

      In the end, reality always wins.
