  •  Take a look at this Mother Jones article, it's (6+ / 0-)

pretty in depth on the correlations, down to neighborhoods with particularly contaminated air and soil having the highest violent crime rates......

There's lots more out there but I'm still rebuilding my info library since I lost my last hard drive with tons of info I need on it...grr...I hate that.

If you need more, ask and I'll do a more in depth search.

but when I read this article a while back, I wondered if perhaps leaded gas could also be one factor contributing to the current momentum of our irrational politics and the unfortunate blossoming of the Tea Party - which seems to be most popular among people of this same age cohort who were toddlers when the use of leaded gasoline was rising to a peak.

One might also predict that the relative rate of crime among older people could be increasing as this cohort ages through our population.  I wasn't able to find much so far to support this idea, however, and will have to do more research to find out if there's anything to this possibility.

      •  not sure on the crime wave following the (0+ / 0-)

generations affected because we tend to naturally mellow with age so even if it was TEL caused brain damage that created a persons early violent behavior, I don't think the violence would continue at the same level through a persons life.....

Yes it is only a hypothesis but imo it's a lot more plausible than the idea that we aborted this generations criminals.......at least with lead we know it causes violence and when the contamination levels match the violence patterns as they do with TEL, imo  it is some pretty persuasive evidence that needs much further study and some serious remediation in heavily contaminated areas.....

And if you were to take the raw abortion numbers, I'd bet you would find a skew to the wealthy/well off rather than the poor.  That in itself would cast serious doubt on the violent crime/abortion hypothesis....
