The Religious Right is indeed shrinking, by several million mostly Angry White Guys annually, who are not being replaced by their children and grandchildren. The public is increasingly in favor of Marriage Equality, strongly in favor of birth control, and mostly in favor of women's choice (nobody is in favor of abortion as such) and science.

But as the Religious Right shrinks, it has been getting much louder and nastier, in part to make up for the declining numbers, and in part because earlier restraining influences from other Republican factions are also in severe decline. That trend of nastiness is not in any way over, or near over. Losing one debate, or one court case, or one election, has almost no effect on Religious Right opinion about the sinfulness of the world outside, or on its determination to take over and put a stop to it. Only a decline in numbers to the point of electoral irrelevance can free us from their malign influence.

And when the Religious Right is effectively over, will the Tea Parties be over? I can't make a prediction. Will the 1% be over? No way.

    Back off, man. I'm a logician.—GOPBusters™
