I too look forward to the day the Supreme Court interprets the 2nd Amendment in a way that respects the rights of gun owners to keep and bear arms, while protecting the rights of all citizens to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.
Last I checked, the only way that gun ownership interfered with any of the above is if the person is irrationally afraid of guns or the gun is used maliciously/negligently, the latter of which are already punishable by law.

So, since people's irrational fears are clearly no basis for law and we already have laws, police and courts to deal with misuse after the fact, by your standards the day you look forward to is already here.

See DeShaney v. Winnebago County re the government protecting the "right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness". That is, it is the consistent and unfortunate opinion of the USSC that the government is not obligated in any way to pre-emptively protect anyone's 14th amendment right to life, liberty or property ("life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" is the Declaration of Independence and lacks any legal standing as a right).

Also see Warren v. District of Columbia (DC Court of Appeals, 1981).
