I've been through several of those in recent years and know how it affects one's thinking and behavior. My deepest sympathies.

In any case, while we don't have to belabor this, it does indeed appear that you were quoting someone we both disagree with from a comment they made on FB. For future reference, the way we handle citations here is to block quote them, like I did above. All you have to do is select the quoted excerpt with your mouse, click on the Blockquote button below where you type your text, and it will show up in a block quote box in the posted comment. That way people know it's not you who wrote it, but someone else. Usually, but not always, people also link to the page where they copied the quote from, using the Link button, but let's not worry about that now.

As for an HR, that stands for Hide Rate. It's something you do with a truly offensive comment in order to hide it from normal view. Two or more HRs does that, and only admins and "Trusted Users" can see them (although if the comment also gets enough Recommends, it's viewable to all again--the exact formula is a site secret to prevent its being gamed). To become a TU, you have to have been here a while and have received enough Recommends from TUs.

It all sounds more complicated than it actually is. The purpose is to allow self-moderation by longtime members who've earned enough trust from other trusted members. It doesn't work perfectly, but it's what we've got.

And, again, sorry about my confusion, and your loss. I'm removing the HR.
