  •  Thomas the Token (0+ / 0-)

Thomas was voted in by the other bigots to fill a chair in order not to get a thinking judge.  The man has nothing worthwhile to say and won't out of fear of displeasing Scalia--the worst of the bigots and tyrants.

    •  He was appointed by a Republican presdient (3+ / 0-)

to be a conservative judge.  There were political pressures to replace Marshall with another African-American.  That's all true.

The claim he's a token or doesn't think is not borne out by examining Thomas's writing, and in many cases he disagrees with Scalia, especially on the role of precedent and the appropriate degree of deference to federal agency decisions.

      Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.

      •  Huge difference between incompetent and corrupt. (0+ / 0-)

I agree with Loge. I argue that Thomas is corrupt, given that he votes on cases for which his wife is/was a lobbyist for one of the parties. Thomas and Scalia also attend secret (well, closed) conservative meetings, too. Not possible for any other level of judge, but SCOTUS sets own rules. But charges of incompetence have to be decided by lawyers and judges not random passers-by like myself. He can be both corrupt and technically competent (though neither impartial nor unbiased). We've had any number of corrupt but very competent politicians, as well, over the years.

        •  His wife is a conservative activist, (0+ / 0-)

But ive never heard of her lobbying for an actual party before the court, and he is conservative independent of her.  I don't know that he's corrupt, but he is conservative and independently so
