One of the things that I remembered from the earliest days of being in the Boy Scouts was how to properly handle the flag. How to fold it, how to display it, how to hang it, the proper way to raise it and lower it, full mast vs half, etc.

The thing that bothered me the most? The U.S. Flag Code, section 4-(d): "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery." And while I know that a picture of a flag on a shirt is not necessarily the same as making a shirt out of a flag, there is a line that I feel gets crossed repeatedly, especially by those who claim to hold the flag and patriotism in the highest regard. I want to ask them if they would feel comfortable if they would replace the image of the flag with a symbol of their faith, like a crucifix. Especially the people who have the flag napkins, flag underwear or flag bikini's.
