Notice how President Obama's rather clever statement used all the right words other than "nothing is off the table"?

The UE, on the other hand, will never say it in public, but will probably be relieved and delighted if Russia brings some law and order into the east of Ukraine, thereby ensuring that the gas supplies from Russia will not be interrupted...

We're shocked by a naked nipple, but not by naked aggression.

    •  No one seems to have picked up on the fact that (0+ / 0-)

Obama's 'warning" to Putin calls on the Russians to withdraw to their bases in Crimea and not intervene militarily in Ukraine.

In other words, Obama is ready to concede that Crimea is a Russian protectorate while the fate of eastern Ukraine is a separate issue that must be resolved by non-military means.

That's shrewd and realistic-- although it will undoubtedly be met with howls of outrage by McCain and other warhawks once they finally parse out what Obama said.

      •  It was McCain's foreign policy advisor Scheunemann (0+ / 0-)

who managed to convinced Saakashvili and the other petty thugs in the worthless Mafia state of Georgia that the USAF would come to their rescue when they triggered their war with Russia.

        •  Yes-- McCain, Scheunemann, and the Bush Admin (0+ / 0-)

got suckered and walked into a trap in South Ossetia. And judging from the pundit bleating on CNN and Fox, US Neocons are about to be suckered again in Ukraine.

A few months ago there was a photo on the Internet that perfectly illustrated McCain's folly: McCain and Lindsey ("Huckleberry") Graham with their trousers rolled up, stomping grapes in Saakashvili's vineyard.
